LO4: Record different sound elements

Me and Evie , as the voice actors and presenter recorded the dialogue section in the script. This was achieved in the recording studio as we spoke into a microphone covered by a pop filter, which allows our voices to be clear for the trail while also following the script.

Shauna as the director/sound person had used garage to record and control the audio for our radio trail. Also, using music without the need of royalties for our radio trail. As you can see Shauna has also used the sound adjuster to control the outcome of what Me and Evie recorded, while also seeing what is useable and unusable.

Evidence of editing

We recorded our radio trail including jingles on the software 'Garage' which is where recorded our sound for our audio trail. Transferring this to audition to be edited and created on audition.

After recording the audio trail on garage it was then uploaded onto Adobe Audition as a multitrack as it was easier to edit together instead of it being complicated as all our assets were visible, here we also upload all of our music, voices to create a trail. The two files on our screen present the way we are able to simultaneously edit or background music and sound effects. This allowed us to start adding other element to the trail.

Here is how we saved our Track 1 as a dialogue, this is because it was much more easier to work with and edit to create our radio trailer.

Using 'female' to enhance speech in our radio trail was in order to create a better and more suitable radio voice/tone to the trailer. This allowed our female presenters to have a much more 'girly'/ feminine touch, which also caters/ appeals much more towards our majority female audience it also gave a much more 'radio like' sound.

Increasing the volume level of our clip allowed our voices in the radio trail to be the loudest and most heard part in our radio show. Looking at the conventions of  existing radio trail it is important to have our voices as the main part of the trail as details are given about the radio show.

We did the opposite of this to our music in our radio show. This was done in order to create our music as the background of our radio trail. This has also allowed our voices to be much more loader as the music is decreased and the volume of the presenters voices are increased.

This wave form is an example of a convention radio trails/ audio consists of and includes. This is a presentation of our audio for the presentation of the presenters voices

Here is another wave from the software Adobe Audition which clearly present the music we used for our radio trail.

LO4: Feedback

Once we have created our radio trail we asked our intended target audience what they thought of the radio trail out of 10 and what could be improved to maker a better trail. Achieving useful feedback was achieved through selecting my target audience to give us feedback rather than feedback from an unsuitable audience.

From the survey created the feedback suggest that majority of my audience enjoys the promo giving it an average of 80 (8). From this I can conclude that our radio trail successfully appeals towards our intended target audience. As well, as some improvement not being suggested.

However, some feedback given was feedback such as the need to include more details on what our radio show will consist of. This will ensure we are able to present to our potential listeners what the show will be about/ feature allowing us to gain more listeners. This can be achieved through simply stating out what else is featured in the show.
Another feedback to improve the radio trail was to explicitly present how that our radio show is a local radio show. This is important as it will allow people to have a much more clear description of what the radio show is.

To improve our radio trail from our feedback given by our target audience from our draft we will ensure that there is more content such as that there are interviews, celeb gossip ensuring our potential listeners are much more aware on what we intend to produce.

LO3: Legal and Ethical Issues

cM1: Identify any issues and resolutions to the legal and
ethical issues for sounds to be included in the production
process. This should be clear and detailed.

COPYRIGHT

As I am creating an radio trail the Copyright act is important as it is a legal means of protecting work.It is a type of intellectual property that provides exclusive distribution and usage rights for the work.  This means whatever content the creator created cannot be used or distributed by anyone else without the consent of the creator. The length of copyright protection may vary from country to country, but it usually lasts for the life of the owner plus 50 to 100 years. This will ensure my radio trail is not copied, distributed or used without my permission

It is illegal for anyone to publish the work of anyone and the result in breaking the copyright law will result in a fine put £50,000.
I will need to gain permission from potential musicians and people who may feature on my radio trail.

DATA PROTECTION

Data protection act will allow the data my production team holds to be safe and secure , while allowing my users/ audiences to feel comfortable when giving us their personal details such as name, age, email, number etc. This will make sure the users data is used lawfully and fairly. Everyone who hold data is responsible for following the rules of 'data protection'.

e.g. Competitions  call ins etc. Personal data is given and It is our responsibility to protect it and making our listeners comfortable.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHT

Intellectual property rights are the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds. They usually give the creator an exclusive right over the use of his/her creation for a certain period of time.

Without protection of ideas and businesses individuals would not fully benefits from their inventions/ ideas. Copy right and trademarks fit into the intellectual property right. The intellectual property right act benefits my radio trail and sound as it will be protected from anyone to use/ distribute without our permission.

PRS

PRS (Performing Right Society) will allow me to use music on our radio show. PRS will allow me to use my music without breaking copy right acts.

The PRS website says

'We pay royalties to our members when their work is performed, broadcast, streamed, downloaded, reproduced, played in public or used in film and TV.'

PRS will be useful to me as any potential music/ sound will be available to feature as part of my radio trail, while I am following the copy right act/ intellectual property right act.

It is illegal to use any music/sound that does not belong to you without any permission it will be brought down and you may be fined.

ETHICAL

As our target audience is 16-24. We should not use unsuitable language or discussions such as swear words, drugs etc. This is due to majority of our audience being young and at school. Also, avoiding any homophobic, racist, sexist etc. remarks.
