LO2: Vox Pop

For this task I had asked the Sheffield public on their views on the     Marvel movie Black Panther and what their favourite Netflix/ Television show is. As my audience is younger, I collected this information from people around Sheffield Hallam University as there is a large amount of this age group.
Using the software Adobe Audition, I put my questions together and attempted to clear the audio as the weather was quite windy.

I recorded myself explaining what I am trying to achieve and do.

LO2: Film Clip Adding Sound

To ensure I am familiar with adding sound for this task, I practiced editing and adding sound on an existing films clip. I did this on Adobe Premiere through finding suitable sounds for the film. Used Adobe premiere to match, edit etc the sounds I was using for the film.

For the beginning of the film clip I sourced sounds of a vehicle/car diving to fit the features of the film. This was before the music was featured in.
I first sourced appropriate sound to add on the film. Using suitable such as upbeat and positive as the film clip was quite positive and any other music featured would not suit this. I also included a dog bark as a dog was featured in the film clip. The character (Eddie Murphy) was presented laughing and as It fits the comedy genre using a laugh suited to the character was featured.

LO2:Know the techniques and processes used to create sound elements

BEN BURTT
Ben Burtt an American sound designer, film editor, director, screenwriter, and voice actor. He is best known as a sound designer and for his work in Wall-E and The Star Wars movies.

How he creates sound?

Ben Burtt creates sound through the use of instrumental equipment to record the suitable sound to use such as drums, metallic equipment, strings etc. In films especially animations, sounds contribute in the performance as all sound is created in an animation. Ben Burtt also uses his own vocals to create sound. Using multiple equipments for the creation of sound as it is important to use the type of sound the sound designers feel is right.

What equipment is used to record and create the sound?

Examples of equipment that can Ben Burrt has used for the film Wall-E are equipment such as a spring to create a futuristic weapon shot sound due to the film being a scientist-fi animation. Ben Burtt spoke about how the speed of playing an instrument can contribute in creating new sounds.

Ben Burtt previously use to gather sounds from the real world to use in his films instead of creating in the sound studio.

Disney would create sound in their studio through bringing the sound in the studio as equipment in the 30's was to heavy, large anti portable.

How this connects the film to the targeted audience?

As the Disney Wall-E is targeted at a young target audience from ages 8- 13 which is the reason the sound design is targeted at a younger audience through the sound being exciting, loud, which is what this age group would be entertained by. The sound also suited the sci-fi through the metallic instrumental used which used that also suits the sci-fi theme. The sound was very important as there was not much dialogue. This made it important for the young audience to have suitable sound for the sound to also tell the story. Such as a sheet of metal to create a thunder rumble sound. This was used in Wall- E as the rocket takes off.

Here is an example of traditional ways of sourcing and recording Ben Burtt has previously done in the past.
